EES Celebration and Assessment Day

For our Engineering Education Scheme (EES) we were fortunate enough to team up with engineers from Jaguar Land Rover in order to make a new and improved infotainment test-rig which hopefully the company can adopt for use in the future. We have put many hours and a lot of hard work into this project over the last six months, all in preparation for the display stand and presentation day at the end of it all, which was then followed by a graduation ceremony where we are each awarded for our hard work and dedication. This was also a time where we could look at other teams projects and talk with new people from schools and colleges throughout the UK.
Our team were very excited to represent All Saints Catholic High School and Jaguar Land Rover in these awards, and are delighted to say that we were awarded with a Gold Crest Award, as well as being handed a further award for our project called the Industrial Cadets Award. In addition to this, we were all overjoyed with the positive feedback that we got and were informed after the presentation that our team were outstanding in all areas.
This has been an excellent opportunity and a fun and rewarding experience, and would like to send our thanks to the engineers at JLR that worked along side us and offered their commitment and support. We would also like to personally thank Miss Porter, Mr Gilmore and the DT department for their support throughout the project and for giving us this opportunity. We would recommend that anyone interested in doing the EES project next year should take this opportunity - not only those who are interested in engineering, but also anyone that is enthusiastic to learn new skills and meet new people.

Our first monitoring visit from HMI Charles Lowry confirmed that the school’s improvement plan and the local authority’s statement of action are fit for purpose.

If These Walls Could Talk

If These Walls Could Talk uses the Empire Theatre to bring alive key moments in history from 1860’s to 2000’s. The project has involved students from a number of different schools each one has been allocated a different era of time and through the musical theatre skills of acting, singing and dancing that have created their individual sections.
All Saints were awarded a grant by Curious Minds and the Arts Council, to run a music project that would benefit the children of All Saints and its feeder primary schools. After extensive research, All Saints formed a partnership with the Creative Learning Department at the Liverpool Empire Theatre and the concept of a joint concert was formed.

Parents & Carers Forum

Thanks to those parents/carers who came along to our first Parents’/Carers’ Forum on Wednesday 4 March 2015. It was really helpful for Tony McGuinness, the incoming Principal, and myself to hear about your concerns, as well as to hear your positive views about our school.
We agreed that 6:00pm was a good start time for future meetings and we also agreed that our next meeting would be scheduled for<b>Thursday 30 April 2015</b>, when Mr McGuinness will be full-time at our school.
Concerns you raised about the amount and frequency of homework in Year 9 and the marking of homework in Year 7 will be investigated and we’ll be able to feedback our findings to you at our next meeting.
We also agreed that a whole school text message should be sent a week before the next Parents’/Carers’ Forum to remind all of our parents/carers about the meeting.
Thank you again for your time - it was great to see you and Tony and I were particularly pleased to have your support for our journey to “good”.
Ofsted Report - Important Information for Parents and Carers

As you know we were visited in December 2014 by Ofsted who carried out an inspection of the school. We have now received their report, which highlights a number of areas in which we must make improvements.
Whilst we were pleased to see that the inspectors noted a number of very positive things about our school, they told us that we must do more to improve the achievement of all students in the school, including those in our Sixth Form. We must also look closely at school leadership and governance, and whether we can make better use of the Pupil Premium that we receive for disadvantaged pupils.
Copies of the report are available from this website and also from the Ofsted website (www.ofsted.gov.uk). Alternatively, you are welcome to collect a paper copy of the report from our main Reception desk.
We have already put in place action plans to tackle the areas for improvement, and are confident that we can raise standards quickly. As you know our new Principal, Mr Tony McGuinness, is joining us after Easter, and he has already begun working with us to ensure that the right action is being taken even before he formally takes up his post.
I appreciate that you will have questions about the report. We would therefore like to invite you to school to hear about our improvement plans and the progress we have already made. Two sessions will take place in school on Tuesday 3rd February 2015 at both 3.15pm and 6.15pm - please let us know, using the slip provided to students, which of these you wish to attend.
We would also like to invite you to our first Parents’/Carers’ Forum which will take place on Wednesday 4th March 2015 at 6.00pm. These hour-long events will take place every month and will be an opportunity for you to hear what we’ve been doing and to ask any questions and raise issues.
Finally I would like to reassure you once again that we remain completely committed to making the improvements that are needed to ensure your child gets the best possible education here at All Saints, and we hope you will work with us to help make this happen as quickly as possible.
