The Business Department ![]() Industrial liaison is an important part of the development of courses that are both interesting and relevant for students in the Department. Relationships are to be built up with a number of local employers and visits will occur to businesses locally and abroad. The Department also runs the Career Academy. The UK Career Academy Foundation is a registered charity that leads and supports a national movement of employers, schools and colleges, working to raise the aspirations of 16-19 year olds who are considering a career in business. 72 schools, 1100 students, in the UK are involved in the programme. The Career Academy programme lasts for 2 years and is for year 12 A level students who study Business and Finance. We currently have 10 students enrolled. The programme involves:
The Department is well resourced with a wide variety of textbooks, resource packs and in-house materials available for use in the classroom. There is excellent access to Information Technology, which is used extensively, particularly as part of the BTEC programme. As a Post-14 Curriculum Department we are committed to improving the quality of learning for the whole school. The students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and a wide range of teaching strategies are employed by staff. We are keen to provide a relevant and meaningful learning experience for all students taught in the subject areas. We will continue to strive to achieve good examination results at all levels.
