Art & Textiles Department ![]() We are proud to offer as broad a spectrum of subjects as possible and are one the few art departments in the region able to offer General Art, Textiles, Graphic Design and Three Dimensional Design at GCSE level. Our range of staff specialists provide these opportunities from year 7 right through to the sixth form. Traditionally, the results our students achieve are amongst the very best in the school at both GCSE and A Level. This is down in no small part to the dedication and enthusiasm of both our teachers and our students, who commit many extra hours to work within the department at lunch times and after school. This helps to create a very positive working environment in the department and we are very pleased with our ‘open-door’ policy to our students. We have recently developed great links with local and national agencies including Tate Galleries, National Museums Liverpool, Find your Talent and have exhibited pupils’ work in a variety of locations including the Walker Gallery and Tate Liverpool. We regularly run visits to leading centres of art including local galleries with international reputations as well as Paris. A high proportion of our students progress from school to study the arts in further education, following degree courses in Fine Art, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Games Design and Architecture amongst others. We are extremely proud to see former students forging careers in such exciting fields as fashion design and professional studio pottery.
