The Science Department ![]() We have also introduced the BTEC course to Years 10 & 11 that is proving popular and is expected to further raise achievement. The Year 9 SAT results were achieved for many through the attendance at booster lessons over the spring term, partnerships with outside agencies and the numerous trips that took place from Spaceport to the Blue Planet. Summer school was attended by a large number of the new Year 7 pupils and the Science department was one of the most popular activities over the week. The Science staff had arranged for the pupils to investigate a ‘murder mystery’ to be solved by the classes with a range of techniques used. The pupils learned how to differentiate between different fingerprint types and identify their own from a list, and how to use chromatography to separate inks and view the colours that compose them. These new found methods were then used to identify the ‘killer’ from a fingerprint left behind on a glass of wine and a suicide note from the victim that turned out to be false. The week finished with a display of fireballs from the staff to show the sort of experiments that they can expect from their experience at All Saints. Every student at All Saints should be able to access this website and use it as a valuable resource to help understanding and knowledge of the subject. Teachers will provide updated blogs with help linked to topics studied in class during the year. | Skip Calendar Calendar
